See if Trauma, PTSD, or Anxiety Counseling is right for you.
Traumatic events are terrible to endure, and the neurological adaptations that occur in response to the event or events cause chronic, debilitating symptoms that continue like aftershocks for days, weeks, months, or years … even decades.
If you’ve suffered these adaptations, you might be tempted to view them as an indication of brokenness, but the opposite is true.
These biological changes make you better at spotting threats in your environment. You’re quicker and more efficient at protecting yourself. However, when the threat is no longer present, and the heightened reactivity remains, it’s hard to calm yourself.
If you have a history of trauma, you know the sudden and destabilizing jolts of terror that overtake you when something from the environment triggers you. Desire to avoid the triggers can feel like dodging landmines. Perhaps you live with an undercurrent of unease like you’re waiting for the next terrible thing to happen. Living with looming threats makes life feel limiting at best and out of control at worst.
If you’ve courageously attempted to heal your trauma, PTSD, and anxiety in the past, and it didn’t work, don’t lose hope.
The process often proves too intense, like having an exposed nerve ending. Perhaps your ability to tolerate distress was overwhelmed, and healing efforts were aborted. If this is you, you’re not alone. Still, failed attempts at healing might have left you feeling hopeless like you’re doomed to the disruptive and unpredictable fallout forever.
How Therapy Can Help to Heal Your Trauma, PTSD, and Anxiety
I’ll show you effective techniques for calming the nervous system. Your nervous system has developed pathways in your body that send chronic messages of panic or dissociation. Did you know that you have the power to build new pathways of peace and calm? I’ll help you develop a different relationship with the trauma so even though it happened, it won’t run your life. You will.
My Experience with Trauma, PTSD, and Anxiety Healing
Trauma isn’t always one big event—it can be a series of smaller experiences that build over time and overwhelm the nervous system. It’s deeply personal; two people can live through the same moment, but only one may walk away traumatized. Factors like past experiences, family roles, and emotional resilience all play a part. Trauma can also emerge from consistently witnessing others in pain, as seen in therapists, first responders, and healthcare workers—a phenomenon known as secondary traumatic stress.
When left unchecked, this can lead to vicarious trauma, where the world begins to feel unsafe and dark. In workplace settings, trauma may stem from Sanctuary Trauma—when someone in power dismisses or minimizes distress. I help people recognize these patterns, regulate their nervous systems, and reconnect with a sense of safety and self.
